The Chinese stockmarket is not for the faint of heart. Over the past decade punters have endured two big bubbles and two big crashes—the latest in 2015.

英文释义为“a person who gambles (= risks money guessing the result of something)”，股市中的“赌徒”自然也就是“股民”了。

Smart

我们熟悉的“smart”是形容词，这里的smart是动词，意思为“难过，烦恼to feel upset about a criticism, failure, etc.”，跟from搭配使用，表示原因。

Remorseless
